Gorgeous. Late 1930s to early 1940s bias cut vintage evening gown in a semi sheer rayon crepe fabric with beaded details to the bodice. Really pretty wide gathered shoulder straps and straight neckline to the front and back. Made in England ‘Lightening’ brand metal zipper to the left side seam, with ‘Petersham’ waist stay to the inside waistline with hook and eye fastenings to hold the dress in place. Beads are a lovely ‘oil slick’ black iridescent colour in a ditsy floral pattern. Seams are mostly left raw edged on the inside, with some overlocking stitch to the neckline and a hand stitched rolled hem to the skirt. Dress is in overall nice antique/vintage condition with some signs of wear to the fabric in places and an old hand stitched repair to the hem of the skirt. These do not detract too much from the overall beauty and elegance of the piece (please inspect pictures closely to ensure you’re happy with the condition before purchasing. Priced accordingly).
