Our favourite tee! Rare 1970s/80s vintage single stitch tee with chest and back print. From the (in)famous ‘Willie’s Thick & Cheesy Pizza’. Willies Pizza served out of the ‘Illini Inn’ , a popular campus bar of the University of Illinois, from the 1970s through to the early 1990s. Willie’s operated above the bar and students would drink downstairs and wait for their pizza to be lowered down to the bar floor using an old school dumbwaiter elevator. Stroh’s was the budget friendly beer of choice for students and locals of the 70s and early 80s. This was likely a promotional tee from that era. The navy blue and orange colour combo represent the school colours of the ‘Fighting Illini’. The tee is in great condition for its age, with some really nice natural crackled distressing to the print both front and back (see pics). Some minor signs of wear to the neckline stitching and the seam on the right sleeve (see pics), but otherwise is in great worn vintage condition. Single stitch to the sleeves and hem. This one has a ‘Ghost Tag’ as it’s been so well worn and loved, so I don’t know the brand or composition of the fabric. Its a nice lightweight jersey and I would estimate that its the 50/50 cotton & polyester mix most common to this era of t-shirt manufacture. Sized as a Medium, with a 40” chest. This has a short and boxy fit. Please check below measurements before purchasing.
